“The Effects of a Magnetic Force Field on Fluids”

WATER … Our Most Inportant and Precious Natural Resource

In the Never-Ending Battle to preserve and Protect this Natural Resource,
there is a new and effective weapon!

MAGNETIC FLUID CONDITIONING FROM MAG-TEK INC.

Water is one of the world’s best solvents. In fact, we refer to it as the “universal solvent”. Given enough time, it will dissolve any organic or inorganic material. It surrounds foreign particles, such as minerals, entrapping them in what scientists refer to as “complexes”. That’s why water has a high mineral content. These dissolved minerals are not a part of thewater itself. They are “captives” that the water has surrounded and is carrying along with it. The number of mineral compleses in water determines how “hard” the water is. The more minerals it carries, the harder it is considered to be.

When water is stored, heated, or evaporates, the complexes it carries are set free. These liberated minerals (most of which are calcium carbonate or magnesium) conglomerate in sediments that line the insides of pipes, appliances, water heaters, and other surfaces which the buildup on the sediment layer, causing it go grow progressively thicker. There is a name for these caked- on mineral deposits; scale. The limestone that forms the Swiss Alps and Mexico ’s Yucatan P eninsula is basically scale. Lime scale us a very hard substance, and removing it from plumbing fixtures and appliances is a difficult task.

Most of the water that is piped into homes and other buildings in North America and many other buildings contains a significant amount of hardness minerals. This is both good and bad. It’s good because the right amount of minerals has health benefits and makes the water taste better. It’s bad because some of these dissolved minerals are converted to scale when the water goes into a home or building and is stored, heated or evaporates. It’s a well known fact that letting hard lime scale build up in the plumbing fixtures and appliances in your home is like pouring money down the drain.

The Solution?

There are several, but only one that makes sense.

To date, the most common solution is the traditional water softener, which takes a portion of the hardness mineral s out of the water and replaces them with sodium. Water thus treated is not recommended for drinking because of the high sodium content. Water softeners are also expensive to operate, and cause environmental problems. Also, they do not stop scale build-up, nor do they remove scale that has already built up. They simply reduce scale. These are just a few of the reasons why water softners are not an acceptable solution to scale build-up problems.

Other scale buildup remedies, such as acid washes and chemical additives have even greater drawbacks, including the risk of contamination and the fact that they wear out the surfaces they contact.

What, then, is the acceptable way to combat scale build-up? The answer lies in a complies word for a fairly simple physical phenomenon; magneto-hydrodynamics.

Simply stated, magneto-hydrodynamics is what happens when water passes through a properly focused magnetic field. The magnet field breaks up some of the complexes that are carried in the water, freeing the captive mineral particles. Once free, these particles act as crystallization centers, giving the surrounding mineral molecules in the water something to “stick” to, rather than forming new layers of scale on the inside of plumbing and appliance surfaces. As these crystallization centers attract mineral molecules, they form circular platelets, which remain in the water rather than attaching themselves to surfaces and causing scale build-up.

Fact: Hard water piped into our homes, offices, factories, and other buildings causes problems that result in wasted dollars.

The net effect of all this is that the hardening minerals are changed from a scale like a nice cube powder like a snowflake.

This process of keeping minerals in the water rather than letting them precipitate out in the form of scale when heating or evaporation takes place is known as magnetic fluid conditioning.

It is not a new process. Nor is it unproven. P atents for treating water with magnetics appeared back in the 1950’s. Even back then, when the magnets were far weaker than they are today, the effects were remarkable. The treated water behaved as if it were “softer”, with less mineral content, and scale build-up was significantly reduced.

1. Typical scale and calcium build-up caused by untreated water has almost closed this pipe.
2. This photo shows the efect of magnetically treated water on the same section of pipe a short time after the installation.
3. After continual treatment, most scale is removed and will be prevented as long as the sytem is in operation.

Magnetic fluid conditioning caught on first in the eastern world, where other water softening methods and equipment were not commonly available. Highly favorable reports soon began filtering back from Chins, Russia, P oland, Bulgaria, and other eastern countries agricultural, commercial, and industrial use. In the developed countries of the western world, where chemical and other water softening systems were well entrenched, magnetic fluid conditioning took longer to gain acceptance. But its benefits were too dramatic to remain obscure for long. Systematic research from respected institutions began to be conducted, quantitive methods were developed to evaluate the effectiveness of magnetic water conditioning devices, and the findings revealed overwhelmingly positive effects.

In 1973, for example the United States Government confirmed that magnetic fluid conditioning is anPool Magnet effective means of controlling scale. A study by National Technical Information Services for the United States Air Force revealed that magnetized water will not form scale on heating surfaces; that properly designed and installed magnetic units will prevent the formation of costly scale build-up.

A good thing got even better with the development and availability of a new generation of extremely powerful, permanent magnets. They are also more durable and are permanent. In face, once a rare-earth magnet is magnetized, it never needs recharging. Nor does it require anenergy source to keep it magnetized. These magnets maintain their strength so completely that they are used in nuclear submarines to ensure accuracy in sub-polar navigation.

Fuel: Incomplete Combustion

Water is not the only fluid that can benefit from magneto-hydrodynamics. Subjecting gasoline and diesel fuel to a magnetic field results in more complete combustion of that fuel.

Magnetically treated fuel has a tendency to attract oxygen molecules when mixed with air in a combustion cylinder. The result is a more efficient and complete combustion of the fuel throughout the entire chamber, generating more energy from the same amound of fuel, and reducing environmentally harmful hydrocarbon emmisions.

Magnetic fluid conditioning treatment systems are sold, installed, and backed by certified Mag-Tek distributors. All magnetic fluid conditioners come with a five year product warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Our equipment lasts much longer thanthe warranty we provide, however, we choose not use our warranty as a sales gimmick. Your unit will be replaced with new or rebuilt equal to the original equipment, if all installation, and operational instructions of the manufacturer has been adhered to.

Hard water Scale build-up in your home causes :

  • Clogged water pipes
  • Reduced water pressure
  • Hard to remove soap scum on shower doors tubs, chrome, and tile
  • Mineral deposits on faucets, showerheads, washing machines, and dishwashers
  • Spots and milky clouds on glassware and silverware
  • Poor sudsing of soap, detergent, and shampoo
  • Crusted rings in toilet tanks and bowls
  • Water heater inefficiency
  • Dry skin and dandruff

Hard water Scale build-up in industrial heat exchangers, cooling towers, and boilers results in:

  • Higher energy costs
  • Increased chemical usage
  • Expensive down time for maintenance and acidizing
  • Negative environmental impact of chemical and toxic waste disposal

POINT OF USE PHILOSOPHY

MAG-TEK’S position on magnetic conditioning is to provide treatment at the point of use. Instead of one size fits all, we feel that we feel that we can achieve a better result by designing the unit for a specific job at maximum rate of flow. We can engineer and construct the unit for optimum performance which translates to lower costs. Instead of the scattergun approach, “using several units n an effort to catch everything”, we use one uni9t designed to “do the job right the first time” . We have a number of prebuilt units designed for popular and specific uses, when required, design and construction for a unique situation can be accomplished surprisingly fast.

COMPARE TO SALT ION EXCHANGE WATER CONDITIONERS

Water treatment

When we moved into our house eighteen years ago, we bought a salt ion exchange water conditioner to remove the 26 grain hardness in our well water. We were happy with the computerized equipment for about 10 years when my body started retaining water from the ingested salt. When I realized this, I disconnected the unit and started investigating alternative means of combating the problem. I finally settled on magnetic water conditioning. I found that the water passing through a magnetic field would cause the minerals in it to repel each other and surfaces that they come in contact with. I joined a multilevel marketing group to learn what they had to teach; didn’t take long. I don’t believe that I bought a set of their magnets. They sold two (ceramic, the weakest made) magnets to go on the incoming water line and one after the water heater. The enemies of magnetics are inactivity, heat and turbulence; all in a water heater, especially at night. I then located a wholesaler of generic ceramic magnets which cut out the guys in the multilevel. I decided that because in my house it took so long to get hot water to my bathroom, I needed smaller magnets at each point of hot and cold use, with a very strong one on the shower pipe. I could sell a two bath home a setup that would almost equal the salt ion conditioner in effectiveness; the only problems were the bottom of the toilet bowls.
About nine months ago I found Mag-Tek Fluid Conditioners, that offers neodymium, the strongest of common magnets, which doesn’t go on the outside of the water line, but into the water line and it is cleaning our toilet bowls. This one magnet is the same cost as the bunch of ceramic magnets I was using. I have decided, yesterday, that I am going to put a smaller Mag-Tek Fluid Conditioner in the hot water line just before the kitchen, half way to my bath, to give the hot water a boost. Even at that, the system will be cheaper initially than a salt ion conditioner and considerably healthier with no operating cost or maintenance.
