The following termite preventative procedures are a result of over thirty years in pest control: 10 Years actually devising environment sensitive products, methods and equipment for treating homes under construction.
![]() When the building's exterior is wrapped with Tyvek or tar paper, before the windows are installed. ESP will power spray the complete structure with Borrada D, a borate (Disodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate) solution. This product will penetrate into the wood and leave a long lasting (eons) residual to provide protection against wood destroying insects, some molds and fungi. We are also adding a surfactant that will enhance the penetration of the borate into wood. This surfactant in itself will kill most molds and fungi. This surfactant is used by lumber mills to kill sapstain. All base plates should be clean of debris for this treatment. The borate is at least thousands of years old, if kept away from running water, will provide a protection for your home that can’t be matched with pest control poisons or mechanical devises. If structural steel cannot prevent slabs from cracking, how can a light weight wire mesh do so? Most slabs will eventually crack in the Texas Hill Country. Termites will come through these cracks and eat untreated wood. What sense does bait stations feeding termites in the yard make. Treat it once with borate and be done with it, no continuing costs. This solution penetrates to the center of four two by fours screwed together with drywall screws. The ground beneath the pier and beam building should also be sprayed with Borrada D to kill most fungi that will likely be there.
